QuickShrink CLI: Uses, Limits and Related Reading

A supporting tool from the Orthogonal blog

QuickShrink CLI is the command-line companion for repeated image-processing jobs. It is separate from the browser app and belongs in a reviewed local workflow, not a copy-and-run install step you have not inspected.

When it fits

Batch-compress project images from a terminal or CI workflow.

JPEG, PNG, WebP, and AVIF workflows. Requires a supported Node.js environment.

Start with a small example

  1. Read the source-checked CLI guide linked below before installing anything.
  2. Review the downloadable package and dependency versions. Start with synthetic or disposable copies in a separate output directory.
  3. Inspect output names and decoded images before adding the command to a project or CI job.

Limits to understand

The reviewed version is 1.0.0. Its package behavior takes precedence over landing-page examples. Do not assume an option is supported because a marketing example shows it. Palette PNG output, orientation, filename collisions, and overwrites need particular care; the guide records these limitations and a reviewed installation path.

Input processing and privacy

The downloadable package processes image files locally. Review the package and its dependencies before running it; installation can make network requests.

Local processing is not a promise of zero network requests. Read the privacy policy and use non-sensitive examples unless you have independently reviewed the application.
